Port multiplier support in opensolaris

I just saw the following opensolaris putback notice:

PSARC/2009/394 SATA Framework Port Multiplier Support
6422924 sata framework has to support port multipliers
6691950 ahci driver needs to support SIL3726/4726 SATA port multiplier

This is awesome news, and I’m hopeful this will allow me to use one of my external SATA enclosures with OpenSolaris. Time to live upgrade my systems!

Good luck with that!

I had so many problems in the past with eSATA enclosures and PMP support in Linux that I eventually sold the enclosure and bought a 4-drive SATA/SAS system. Not only does it run OpenSolaris nicely but my problems with eSATA and disks vanishing are now left behind.

Also, by the way, how/where did you learn about PMP support for OpenSolaris?

Good news! However, I cannot seem to upgrade to this – the development repository for opensolaris is only updated for July, not August!

Felipe, I found out about the support from here:

http://opensolaris.org/os/community/on/flag-days/121-125/

No binary version is available – they haven’t updated the developer repository for nearly 2 months too!
